Tutorial Times:
Mondays, 10:05am-10:55am, Hall H, Arts Building
Fridays, 1:05pm-1:55pm, Hall B, Arts Building
(Both tutorials will cover the exact same material, so you only need

Content:
This module will be lecture-driven, and the assignments and exam will
be based entirely on the material to be presented in the lectures and
tutorials, so please try to attend all of those (or at least as many
as you possibly can). There is no required textbook for this module;
however, the following books cover much of what we'll be seeing, so
you may want to have a look at them:
Mathematical Methods in the Physical Sciences, Mary L. Boas
(Wiley)
Mathematical Methods for Physicists, George B. Arfken & Hans
J. Weber (Elsevier)
Calculus: An Introduction to Applied Mathematics,
H. P. Greenspan & D. J. Benney (McGraw-Hill Ryerson)
Assessment:
Your mark for this module will be based on your total continuous
assessment mark (20%) and your exam mark (80%). The continuous
assessment will consist of weekly problem sets; here are all which
have been assigned so far:
Problem Set 1
Problem Set 2
Problem Set 3
Problem Set 4
Problem Set 5 (due by 5pm on Friday, 27
October 2017)
Problem Set 6 (due by 5pm on Friday, 10
November 2017)
The exam will ba a two-hour sitting sometime in January; more info on
that closer to the date...
