Institute of Physics Seminar - Efficient descriptions of many-body quantum systems with tensor networks

Many body quantum systems are very hard to describe due to the exponential increase of parameters with the number of constituents. Tensor network states and, in particular, projected entangled-pair states (PEPS), provide an alternative method to describe such systems. I think this talk I will show how all thermal states of local Hamiltonians at any finite temperature can be efficiently described in terms of PEPS. I will also explain some of the consequences of this result.
