We are based at the Department of Mathematical Physics of the National University of Ireland, Maynooth.
Maynooth University is the fastest growing university in Ireland, with currently over 13,000 students, including about 2,000 postgraduate students. It is also one of the more beautiful universities in Ireland. Some pictures of the campus can be accessed through google maps. Much more of this kind of general information is available on our the Maynooth University page on Wikipedia The department of mathematical physics at NUIM has a strong tradition in topological physics and quantum information also hosts several other reserachers working in related areas, notably Jiri Vala and Graham Kells. The university also has departments of experimental physics and mathematics and statistics as well as an interdisciplinary research centre, the Hamilton Institute, which seeks to provide a bridge between mathematics and its applications in ICT and biology. Maynooth is in close proximity to Dublin, with regular commuter train service, which provides opportunity for frequent interaction with the physics and mathematics departments at the other Dublin area universities and research institutes, notably at Trinity College and at the Dublin institute for advanced studies (DIAS). |
