External grants and fellowships

A number of organizations provide grants and fellowships for postgraduate and postdoctoral work. Of special interest are the grants available through

• The European Union's Research Framework Programme 7, notably the Marie Curie grants available under the People programme.
• The Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering & Technology (IRCSET). The IRCSET has grants for postdoctoral fellows, notably the EMPOWER scheme, as well as grants for postgraduate students, under the EMBARK Initiative.
