Observing the topological phase transition in Semiconductor-Superconductor Nanowires
Hybrid structures of semiconductor nanowires and s-wave superconductors have recently been shown to enter a topologically ordered phase equivalent to a p-wave superconductor of spinless fermions for suitable values of spin orbit coupling, magnetic field strength and particle density. Signatures of the topological phase transition between trivial and p-wave superconductor are predicted to be present in the current-voltage characteristics of tunneling through Coulomb blockaded hybrid structure nanorings.
