Majorana quasi-particles and localisation-assisted topological-order.

I will give a general overview of Majorana bound-sates in quasi-1d superconducting systems, and discuss some of the challenges that have been overcome in order to detect them. If time permits I will also discuss why the Majorana states can sometimes be thought of as a well-defined quasi-particle, even in the presence of local electron-electron interactions, and explain how disorder-induced localization can actually help us to extend the regimes where this is possible.
